Primary science
Year 3 Animals including Humans - Muscles Lesson
A lesson aimed at the Year 3 Science unit of Animals including Humans. This lesson is the fifth lesson of a sequence, looking at muscles. The lesson presentation includes a recap task looking at prior learning from a previous lesson (can easily be discarded if you are using this as a stand alone lesson) key vocabulary and discussion around why muscles are important to us and how they work.
This is then followed by an independent activity working on applying the learning about muscles and how they work. This is then followed by a challenge question regarding exercise and breathing heavier. An answer sheet and support sheet are also included, with an answer sheet also included for the recap task.
Alongside this is a second version of the lesson aimed at any groups who may be working at a lower level. The aim of the lesson is the same and there is a presentation, activity with answers and support sheet at a more appropriate level.

Year 3 Animals including Humans - Review/ Assessment Lesson
A lesson aimed at the Year 3 Science unit of Animals including Humans. This lesson is the sixth and final lesson of a sequence, focusing on reviewing the unit/ acting as an assessment of what children can remember and understand.
There are a number of different tasks that link to what has been taught over the unit, including true or false, labelling diagrams, and thinking about different importances of parts of the body. An answer sheet is also included and a presentation of the activity to discuss answers along each stage.
There is a second version of the review task also created for any group working at a slightly lower level with all the same factors and answer sheet included.
Year 3 Animals including Humans - Food Groups and Nutrients Lesson
A lesson aimed at the Year 3 Science unit of Animals including Humans. This lesson is the second lesson of a sequence, looking at the different food groups and the nutrients we require. The lesson presentation includes a recap task looking at prior learning from a previous lesson (can easily be discarded if you are using this as a stand alone lesson) key vocabulary and discussion around why we eat, as well as looking the Eatwell plate and the different food groups within this. This is then followed up by looking at different nutrients, the role they play and good food sources.
This is then followed by an independent activity working on the nutrients and food groups. This is then followed by a challenge question to provide the chance to reason. An answer sheet and support sheet are also included, with an answer sheet also included for the recap task.

Reading comprehensions linked to either famous historical people/ people that have created history or for a period of time such or national holiday.
Year 5 Animals inc Humans - Stages of Development
A fully resourced lesson that focuses on stages of development for humans. Included is a lesson presentation with questions to get children thinking before identifying the different stages of development. There is then a three-way differentiated activity to apply what they have learnt.
Year 3 Plants - Parts of a Flower Lesson
A lesson aimed at the Year 3 Science unit of Plants. This lesson is the fourth lesson of a sequence, looking at the different parts of a flower. The lesson presentation includes a recap from a previous lesson (can easily be omitted if you want this lesson as a one off) before then looking at the parts of a flower and the different roles they have.
This is then followed by an independent activity that requires children to apply what has been discussed by labelling the parts of a flower and matching parts of a flower to a description of what they do. This is then followed by a challenge question to provide the chance to reason. An answer sheet and support sheet are also included.
There is also a copy of the recap task included.

Year 3 Plants Knowledge Organiser and Quizzes
A knowledge organiser that links to the Year 3 unit on plants, including key vocabulary, images and diagrams that link to some of the key information when learning about plants.
Also included are five different quizzes/ tasks that link to the information in the knowledge organiser that could be used on different weeks as a focus task/ revision of the information on the organiser.
These include quiz questions, matching definitions, completing diagrams and filling in blanks. For each quiz/ task, an answer sheet is also included.

Scientific Information Text Writing - Earth and Space
A lesson/s that requires children to write an information text about the Sun, Moon or Earth. Included is a lesson presentation, an example text to show them what it looks like and some support sheets including a self-assessment grid and fact files. If you have iPads available or other technology they could then also use these to support fact finding.
A useful lesson at the end of a topic on Earth and Space to summarise the learning they have done.

Six different posters of animal silhouettes that include facts regarding how they survive in their environment. Useful to form part of a display or as fact files for children to understand features that help animals adapt to their harsh environment, whether hot or cold.
Classifying Animals Lesson (Year 6 Living Things)
An introductory lesson for Year 6 Living Things that gets children to practise being able to classify animals into different groups. Included are all the resources required for the lesson including the plan, presentation and activity sheets for children to use.
Science Investigation Lesson (Magnetism)
A presentation that gets children to create their own experiment to see whether they can affect magnetism through the use of different materials. The slides get them to work as a class/ individually or in groups to think about and write up different aspects of the investigation while they also have an investigation mat to help them.
KS2 2016-17 Moderation grids
Attached are moderation grids for the interim statements (recently released 2016-2017) for Writing, Science and Maths. This includes working below and greater depth for writing and can be used as a simple tick box exercise. Whilst they include many potential tick boxes, these are in no way how many pieces of evidence you require.
